Vombato Mail Drive It will allow you to store files with music, mp3s, photos or data on your email account as if on additional hard drive. Vombato maintains directory tree structure as a normal filesystem.

How the Vombato Mail Drive works?

Vombato Mail Drive When you upload files and folders using the Vombato Mail Drive, it creates email with special subject ('VOMBATO:'...) and attachment. This email is sent to your mail account and will be downloaded whenever you want. When file is bigger than maximum attachment size of your mail server, this file is split into pieces to meet this limitation, and all this files are sent as few emails.

Configuring Vombato mail drive
  1. Open Vombato Mail Drive.
  2. Click 'Vombato' and select 'Options ...'
  3. Click 'Add Account' and enter your full email address (username@server_name) in the 'Email Address:' field.
  4. Double-click on your new email address in 'Account settings' tree
  5. Select 'User & Folder settings', enter your email username and password
  6. If your SMTP server requires authentication, check the box next to 'Use name and password'
  7. Select 'Server settings' and enter pop server name in the 'Incoming Server (POP3)' and 'Server Name:'
  8. If your POP3 service requires secure connection (SSL) Check the box next to 'Use secure connection (SSL),'
  9. Enter smtp server name in the 'Server Name:' field under 'Outgoing Server (SMTP)'
  10. If your SMTP service requires secure connection (SSL) check the box next to 'Use secure connection (SSL),'
  11. Click 'Accounts settings' and double-click new added email account.
  12. And click 'OK.'



How to copy files?

There are several ways to store files on your email account using Vombato Mail Drive:
  • Click on email icon on the Vombato toolbar
  • Simply drag and drop folders and files onto vombato
  • Right-mouse-click on Vombato, select 'Upload file to Vombato mail drive', select file to upload, and click 'Send'

There exists also several ways to copy files from your account using Vombato Mail Drive:
  • Simply drag and drop folders and files from Vombato
  • Right-mouse-click on file from Vombato to download, select 'Download file from Vombato mail drive', select folder and click 'Save'



How to send huge files to my friends and how to receive huge files?

  1. Click 'Vombato', and select 'Send vombato email to friend'
  2. Enter friend's email address in the 'To:' and file to send in the 'File:'
  3. Now, she or he should check email with Vombato Mail Drive and download file



How to encrypt my files?

  • Right-mouse-click on Vombato, select 'Upload file to vombato mail drive', select file to upload. Check the box next to 'Encrypt file', and enter password.

    Vombato Mail Drive uses very strong encryption called Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), a symmetric 128-bit block data encryption technique developed by Belgian cryptographers Joan Daemen and Vincent Rijmen. The U.S government adopted the algorithm as its encryption technique in October 2000, replacing the DES encryption it used. AES works at multiple network layers simultaneously. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) of the U.S. Department of Commerce selected the algorithm, called Rijndael out of a group of five algorithms under consideration.
